RE/MAX Masters Millennium Co-Sponsors 6th Annual Mulligans for Military Golf Tournament to Benefit Homes for Our Troops
Broker Associate Joanne Toledo Spearheads Leading Brokerage’s Support of
Nonprofit that builds Mortgage-free, Specially Adapted Homes Nationwide for
Severely Injured Veterans
GREENWOOD VILLAGE – RE/MAX Masters Millennium of Greenwood Village is co-sponsoring the 6th Annual Mulligans for Military Golf Tournament to benefit the Homes for Our Troops Foundation, a privately funded nonprofit that builds mortgage-free, specially adapted homes nationwide for severely injured veterans to enable them to rebuild their lives. The tournament is scheduled for Monday, August 22, 2016 at the Spring Valley Golf Club in Elizabeth.
Joanne Toledo, a leading Broker Associate with RE/MAX Masters Millennium, spearheaded the company’s support of the golf tournament and Homes for our Troops. Toledo, who comes from strong military roots, became involved with Homes for our Troops through a mutual friend and believed that the charity would be a great fit for RE/MAX Masters Millennium, and when she approached Managing Broker and owner James T. Wanzeck, he whole heartedly agreed.
“Jim didn’t hesitate to get involved with the project, and within a few days we were on board with the Mulligans for Military Golf Tournament and were on our way to bringing more exposure to this amazing endeavor to help veterans rebuild their lives,” said Toledo. “It is my mission to drive more attention and recognition to Homes for our Troops and assist in the growth of its fundraising efforts as a way of showing my gratitude for their service.”
“The specially adapted homes for injured veterans restore some of the freedom and independence our veterans sacrificed while defending our country,” said Wanzeck. “The homes also enable them to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives. Since 2004, Homes for our Troops has built 221 special homes nationwide. It’s an outstanding organization and we are proud to lend our support, and we are also proud of Joanne for her efforts on behalf of our country’s injured heroes.”
Toledo’s husband, brother, and grandfather all served in the U.S. Army. Her father, a disabled Viet Nam veteran, dealt with physical struggles and limitations, and she witnessed first-hand how it impacted her family. She knew then that she wanted to make a difference.
The Mulligans for Military Golf Tournament features an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start at Spring Valley Golf Club. One hundred percent of the funds raised will be donated to the Homes for our Troops Foundation. Participants will enjoy a hole-in-one contest, lunch, a live auction, sports memorabilia, and other fundraising items.
