What in the world does the realtor mean when she tells you this home has good bones? Should you run? Well, if you're up for doing a little work that will enhance your home's look and value, maybe you shouldn't run. In this ultra competitive market, buyers might want to consider buying a home that needs a little sweat equity - it might need some interior and exterior paint, some new carpet, some sod for the bare backyard, a new front door, needs the dated wallpaper in the kitchen and bathrooms removed, etc. But before biting off that project, you'll want to make sure it has a good floor plan, is spacious enough for your needs, it doesn't need any major repairs that you can see in the foundation, electrical and plumbing. And, of course, you must hire a great inspector to check things you can see and things you cannot see.
